Self-Adhesive Vinyl

The lowest-cost UK signage material. Printed vinyl with adhesive backing for indoor smooth surfaces — fire doors, painted walls, glass partitions, metal cabinets.

Self-adhesive vinyl is the most cost-effective material for indoor signage where the lowest cost is the priority. The sign is printed onto a vinyl sheet with an adhesive backing; you peel and apply directly to a smooth surface.

Direct Signs supplies vinyl signs in standard UK sizes (100×150mm, 200×300mm, 300×400mm, 400×600mm) and custom sizes on request. Standard vinyl is approximately 70 microns thick. We supply with application tape for letters and complex graphics.

Lifespan: 3-5 years for indoor applications, reducing to 2 years in sheltered outdoor environments. Not recommended for fully exposed external use due to UV degradation.

Can I install vinyl myself?
Small letters and short signs — yes. We provide clear application instructions and application tape. Larger graphics or window-wide installations are easier with professional installation. Misapplied vinyl creates bubbles that are difficult to fix.

How is vinyl removed?
Standard vinyl removes with a heat gun and patience. The adhesive can leave residue requiring solvent cleaning. Removable / spec vinyl is designed to peel cleanly without residue but lasts 6-24 months only.

What about outdoor use?
Sheltered outdoor (covered porches, internal courtyards) — yes, with reduced lifespan. Fully exposed external — no, choose rigid PVC or aluminium composite instead.
