A folded sign tray is a single sheet of aluminium pressed and folded to create a deep-edged sign panel — typically 50-100mm depth. The tray gives a much more substantial appearance than a flat panel and is the standard format for premium retail fascia signage, projecting signs, and external building signs.

Direct Signs presses sign trays in our UK facility from sheet aluminium, coats them in your specified colour or polished finish, and applies the graphic (vinyl, paint, or built-up letters depending on specification). Trays can be illuminated internally or supplied as solid panels.

How heavy are sign trays?
Depends on size — a 1m × 0.5m × 75mm tray weighs 8-12kg. Larger trays for major fascia installations can weigh 50kg+ and need professional installation with appropriate lifting equipment.

Can sign trays be illuminated?
Yes. Internally illuminated trays use LED panels behind a translucent face (acrylic or polycarbonate). Halo-lit trays have LED behind solid letters mounted on the tray face.

What's the lead time?
Custom sign trays typically 4-6 weeks from artwork approval, due to the multi-stage manufacturing (pressing, coating, finishing, electrical assembly).
